During this time of healthcare crisis, Mission Grove Church is helping hundreds of families eliminate medical debt. The church, located in the Desert Ridge neighborhood, is helping 667 households living in the 85050 and 85331 zip codes to eliminate $1.3 million dollars in medical debt. They are able to do so through partnering with a nonprofit organization, RIP Medical Debt, that specializes in purchasing and then forgiving debt from medical providers and debt sellers for pennies on the dollar. When asked why they are doing this, pastor Jon Kragel responded, “We feel for too long the church in general has been known for what it is against. We want to be known for what we are for. Simply put, we are for the community, and we want to help the people living in our community wherever we can.”
FOR the Community : Romans 8:31 (May 10, 2020, 5:03 a.m. )
On this Mother's Day, we're talking about what it means to be FOR other people. For far too long the church has been known by what it is against. We want to be known by what we are FOR. If God is FOR us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). God is FOR you, and we are FOR you. #FORthecommunity
